QWhat is the Order Resends and Refunds Policy?

A

If an order arrives damaged or in an unsatisfactory condition, we will reprint and reship free of charge to you. We offer a 30-DAY MONEY BACK GUARANTEE on all orders that we ship. If there is a request for a refund, we may first attempt to re-do the order to the customer’s satisfaction.  Any refunds unfortunately do not include S&H.

On reprints requested by the customer we will ONLY reprint the same image and will not allow new or different photos to be substituted for reprinting.

QWhat types of Paper & Print Finishes are available?

A

We offer the following print finishes:

Glossy finish is the shiny, rich-looking paper most people are traditionally used to.  It tends to show fine detail better, but also shows fingerprints.

Lustre finish is not as shiny as glossy, but not as flat (dull) as matte finish paper.  Lustre paper has a textured finish (some call it”pebbled”) that hides fingerprints. Most portraits and wedding photos are typically printed on Lustre finish paper.

Metallic finish is a high gloss finish with very saturated colors.  It appears as though the image is printed on metal (It almost compares to the back side of aluminum foil).  Images tend to really “pop” when they are done on metallic paper.  However, note that “highs” (bright areas) have a tendency to be “blown out” and over-highlighted on metallic paper.

For traditional paper finishes – glossy and luster – prints are printed on Fujicolor Crystal Archive Type II Photo Paper with 50+ years archival quality.

All Metallic prints are printed on Kodak Endura Metallic Paper with 100+ years archival quality.

QWhat is the Order Processing time for my order?

A

Turn around time depends on the product ordered. The times posted below are guidelines and MAY change and be extended during normally busy time periods.

NOTE: There are various locations from which prints and merchandise is shipped.  Notification emails warn you that orders may be split into different segments and may ship from different locations. Your order may be delayed if we are currently at a race venue working until we return.

Please note that the times posted above are business days. That means orders processed and that have been made ready to ship on late Friday and over the weekend will most likely ship the following Monday. Orders placed on Sunday may ship the following Tuesday. Orders placed on the Sunday or Monday of a three day holiday weekend may ship the following Wednesday.

IMPORTANT!

Always take these factors into consideration for merchandise and prints to arrive at its destination:

1. Turnaround times need to be factored into consideration when selecting shipping methods and shipping times!  The shipping times DO NOT include these turnaround times…  Turnaround time + Shipping time = Time to destination. (In other words, if a canvas print needing 5 days turnaround time is ordered with overnight shipping, it will get there in 6 days…)

Basic Cropping Concepts

Cropping refers to selecting the length and width of image and adjusting the crop to best portray the image’s subject in the context of the item ordered.

Another term used in conjunction with cropping is “aspect ratio.”  This is a number that is the ratio of the length / with or vice versa.  For example:

  • A 4×6 that is in a portrait (vertical) orientation has an aspect ratio of .67 (4 divided by 6).
  • A 4×6 that is in a landscape (horizontal) orientation has an aspect ratio of 1.5 (6 divided by 4).

Our digital single lens reflex cameras (DSLR) have a native format /aspect ratio of 1.5.    This makes the native image perfect for 4×6 images, but other common print sizes result in differing aspect ratios.  Therefore, images with one aspect ratio do not always translate into other sized prints without some additional cropping.

Look at the difference with the 3 most basic print sizes:

Notice that on the 5×7, you start to lose some of the top and bottom edges:

Digital Image Downloads
Once the image is placed in the shopping cart the Personal Usage License has to be agreed to before you can finalize your check out. After the order is complete, you will be redirected to a download page. It will then be recommended that you bookmark the page and check back later.

When the files are ready, you will be notified and can start your download. To streamline the download, multiple files will be placed in a zip archive. You then have 30 days to download the files after you have been notified that the files are ready.

Image prep for mugs

The image placed on a mug, if cropped to the full dimensions, will wrap from handle-to-handle.  If a narrower, “portrait” oriented image is used (and if it is narrow enough) it will be “mirrored” and placed on both sides of the mug.

The 8.5″ width is a maximum dimension.  NOTE:  This 8.5″ is for the WIDTH and represents an image that you want to wrap from handle-to-handle.

The image for a mug will always be sized to fill up to the full height of the printable area.  The image will then “fall” out to fill up the full width as much as possible, based on the aspect ratio of the image supplied.

If the image used is a “normal sized” portrait-orientation (a 2×3 / 4×6 aspect ratio, for example), then the lab will automatically place the image on the mug twice, on each side of the mug. ***

If the image is wide enough (landscape orientation) so only 1 of that image can fill up the area, it will be centered within the 8.5″ width of the area.
